Explorations of terrain in sculpture and paint.

"The textures I carve reflect natural structures. My tools gouge into the tightly packed fibres of the timber substrate. With each mark I build a new terrain of light and shade. Every work is a journey that I take while searching inside the possibilities of texture".

The works of graphic artist Viktoras Simankevicius appear to be almost effortlessly created - spontaneously, playfully.

“He worked unlike the rest of us - so freely, so easily. It was captivating to watch him draw – without any constraint, with a gracious smile at the end”, remembers the distinguished stained-glass artist Albinas Elskus, a school friend from Freiburg’s art school.
